Push Back Pallet Racking

For applications where first in, last out storage is a good option, push back pallet racking can be a great way to get high density of storage while easily being able to retrieve pallets. Push back pallet racking is a type of pallet racking that has rails that are on a very slight angle. As a new pallet is loaded in, it pushes the previous pallet back, allowing for multi-deep pallet storage. When the front pallet is collected, the angled rails automatically allow the pallet behind to slide forward into position, ready for picking.

Push back pallet racking is simple enough to use with standard forklifts, so further specialised equipment isn’t needed.

Push back pallet racking is among the densest first in, last out pallet storage systems because the pallets can go so deep. It’s truly a way to maximise the storage of a warehouse and really increase efficiency.

Benefits of Push Back Pallet Racking

Push back pallet racking has quite a few applications and works well in a number of situations. These include:

  • Great for dense storage, with pallets allowed to be stored multi-deep.
  • Good for situations where there are multiple pallets of the same SKU that can me stored multiple pallets deep.
  • Increased picking speed as the next pallet is automatically available for collection.

Why Use Push Back Pallet Racking

Push back pallet racking works best for storage situations where there are multiple pallets of the same SKU. While stock rotation may not be important for push back pallet racking applications, the system does facilitate fast picking of the next available pallet due to the roller system.

Although push back pallet racking is used in a variety of industries, it’s often used in cold storage industries as space can be at a premium in cool rooms and this type of racking is good for high space utilisation.

As already mentioned, push back pallet racking is a first in, last out system. This works well for a number of industries where there’s no risk of stock spoiling or there’s enough throughput in the warehouse that it’s not a concern, and this is where push back pallet racking works so well. Thanks to the next pallet being ready for picking, it can be very quick to get that next pallet.

We can supply Colby pallet racking products that are certified Australian made.
