The Challenges
Here at A1 Precision Solutions, we stand by our work and the solutions we suggest to our clients; so much so that we would never build something we wouldn’t use or suggest ourselves.
Although our project case studies are usually about work we do for our clients, in this case, we’re our own client trying out a new flooring solution made of recycled glass. We’re always testing new things, whether it’s a new custom fabrication method, a new construction technique or, in this case, a new material. In this case, we’re testing it on our own building to see how it works over time.
Recycled Glass Flooring
As mentioned, this new type of flooring is made of recycled glass. It’s quite literally old glass bottles crushed into small grains, not much larger than sand. The application of the recycled glass flooring involves mixing this crushed glass with a hard wearing, non-toxic glue, binding it all together. It’s then sanded smooth.
A lot of the time products like this use adhesives that are bad for the environment, effectively cancelling out the benefits of using recycled materials. In this case, the adhesive is non-toxic, creating a completely clean product.
Applications For Recycled Glass Flooring
The applications for the recycled glass flooring we recently had installed at our office and warehouse are quite wide. We’ve had the flooring installed in our lobby and entrance, a high traffic area for our office. However the recycled glass flooring isn’t limited to office and non-industrial settings.
In fact, this flooring is quite hard wearing and is naturally anti-slip, making it suitable for warehouses and a number of other industrial environments.
If you’re curious about this new type of flooring, either for a warehouse fit-out or even a wider commercial building fit-out, feel free to get in touch with us to find out more.
