Concrete Slab Leak Remediation

Leaks can occur in commercial properties, both officers and warehouses, for many different reasons. Leaks are generally a serious issue as well, especially when they’re occurring in the foundation of a building.

Although the initial leaks may go undetected at first, over time they can become larger issues. Leaks in a building’s foundation may start due to small cracks naturally forming in the concrete, poor workmanship, and general shrinking. If not rectified, these leaks can cause major structural issues and reinforcement rusting (commonly called concrete cancer) as well as spalling.

When a leak occurs in concrete, it’s important to repair it as quickly as possible because early remediation prevents the leaks from getting worse, further damage to the concrete happening, and more major repairs being needed.

A common way to stop leaks in concrete slabs is through the injection of polyurethane resin into the cracks. This both pushes the water out of and seals it off from future leaks. Polyurethane resin injection is usually done as a single or a double treatment, depending on the exact nature of the leaks, the structure, and weather concerns.

While there are other ways to stop leaks in the foundation of buildings, polyurethane resin injection is usually the quickest and most cost effective. Other methods can include excavation and heavier works, which also usually leads to having to work with neighbouring buildings. This is often very time consuming and costly.

Leaks anywhere in a building are always serious. Speak with us about how to best remedy leaks anywhere in your office, warehouse, or commercial building.
